WIRELESS INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS (WIS) Ltd. is a U.K. based company registered in England, founded in 1998. WIS core expertise is in the areas: theoretical analysis, design, modelling, simulation and testing of the air interface of satellite communication systems for aeronautical communications.

WIS has designed the air interface for the Broadband Global Access Network (BGAN) to support broadband aeronautical, land mobile and maritime satellite communications for a major European mobile satellite operator (Inmarsat Ltd).

Furthermore, WIS has carried out a number of projects:

·  Modelling and real time implementation of aeronautical satellite channels
·  Modem and Equalizer detailed design for aeronautical satellite communications
·  Performance analysis and prediction of aeronautical satellite communications
·  Interference analysis and cancellation for modern multibeam satellites
·  Effects of multi-carrier transmissions on the onboard satellite HPA
·  Intermodulation effects due to the satellite HPA non-linearity and saturation
·  Modulation and coding optimization for efficient use of earth terminal HPAs
·  Study of emission and spurious of satellite terminals for ETSI standardization
· Authoring of different sections of System Definition Manuals, Type Approval Requirements and Procedures for a number of satellite communication systems
· Software for assessing the quality of speech coding algorithms and ISDN
over satellite links
·  Multi-user detection technologies for satellite communications
·  Advanced modulation and coding for mobile and fixed satellite communications
·  Type approval of earth terminals and ground stations
·  Simulation and real time test tools for new mobile satellite systems
·  Architectural design and specification of the fixed and mobile satellite network for the Greek Government All WIS activities have led to currently commercially available and future planned mobile (aeronautical, land mobile and maritime)
satellite communications systems.
