ERA Technology Ltd. is the UK’s leading Research, Consultancy and Product Development organisation, with a multidisciplinary team covering Antenna Systems, Electronic Systems, Asset Management, Reliability and Failure Analysis and Software Systems Integration. Founded in 1920, they have been part of the Chelton Group of Companies since 2003.

The Antenna Systems division has been at the forefront of Antenna and Radome design for over 30 years, with a heritage of Military and Civil airborne systems for communications and sensors, satellite communications at both the ground-segment and payload level, and product design for licensing into very high-volume production.
ERA’s current research programme includes work on novel patch antennas,
which is intended to facilitate the manufacture of miniaturised antennas
without the use of high-cost, highpermittivity materials.

The Chelton group of companies has a long-standing experience in the manufacture of antennas for the airborne environment, with products on almost every military aircraft currently in use by European NATO and a range of antennas for various purposes fitted onto every Airbus. These include antennas for L1 and L1/L2 GPS Navigation,
IFF, UHF and VHF communications, as well as conformal products
developed for use on Eurofighter.

ERA/Chelton’s closely related background is:
- Expertise in the design and manufacture of antennas for GPS, and their
associated GaAs pre-amplifiers;
- Low-Cost Anti-Jam GPS FRPA and CRPA arrays;
- Participant in the UK MoD’s NavWar programme;
- Leader of UK DTI’s SPITFIRE programme for airborne communications;
